In a world where AI can recursively train itself and accomplish a month of work in one hour, 10-year investment horizons are delusional.
Meet Adam Spectre.
He has a warning most investors don’t want to hear:
Real estate is dead. Early-stage startups are a fool’s game. And if you’re not deeply curious about AI right now, your career might have less than 5 years left.
Strong words from someone who:
invested in 200+ startups
built multiple companies, and
spent years in San Francisco’s tech ecosystem.
Although he is deeply worried about the disruption, he is wildly optimistic about the long term. And his strategy is to survive the first to enjoy the second.
“Prepare for a wild, wonderful, abundant, and maybe a little bit scary future.”
In this episode, Adam explains:
why he liquidated all his real estate holdings (except his primary residence),
stopped doing early-stage seed investments entirely, and now only bets on late-stage “defensible” giants like Anthropic and SpaceX.
why the only sustainable competitive advantage in the age of AI is curiosity. Not your degree. Not your experience. Not even your age. Just your willingness to stay up late coding, reading, and experimenting with tools that most people will only ever use as “slightly better Google.”
If you’ve been wondering whether it still makes sense to go to college, whether your real estate portfolio will hold value through 2030, or what investing even looks like when we might not need money anymore—this conversation will fundamentally reshape your assumptions about the next decade.
Enjoy.
Be well & Stay safe,
Axel

Why is curiosity better than age, degree, and experience
The Bottom Line
The hard truth:
We’re heading toward an age of abundance that could rival Star Trek—but the next 5-10 years will separate winners from losers in a way humanity hasn’t seen since the Industrial Revolution.
Adam’s investment strategy reflects this:
Sold all real estate (except primary residence—30% job loss collapses rental demand)
Stopped early-stage investing (10-year bets are delusional when AI moves this fast)
Concentrated in late-stage AI giants (Anthropic 3X in 3 months, SpaceX pre-IPO, etc.)
Saving aggressively (need capital to survive the “messy transition”)

Takeaways + Action Steps
Why Curiosity Is the ONLY Moat—Age, Degree, and Experience Don’t Matter Anymore
“In the age of AI, it’s not about your age or your ability to adopt new technology. It’s about whether you’re curious. The people who will be most successful using AI are the ones who are the most curious.”
Adam had a conversation with a Harvard junior—top of his class, works in venture capital, has every credential imaginable. Adam asked: “What are your friends doing? How much do they use AI? Are they coding things, building stuff all the time?”
His answer, “No, not really. Everyone knows how to use it for coursework and quasi-cheat on exams, but the large majority of people aren’t using it for very much at all beyond just a chatbot.”
If even elite Harvard students—the supposed “best and brightest”—aren’t deeply engaging with AI, then most people at any age aren’t either.
“The bifurcation that’s gonna happen in society is that curious people of any age will take off and be enabled by this tsunami of AI. Most people? It’ll just be another small tool in their tool belt—like having a mobile phone or Google.”
Why curiosity beats credentials:
Traditional success path:
Go to good school → Get good grades → Land good job → Work hard 40 hours/week → Expect promotions → Retire comfortably
AI-era reality:
Degree doesn’t matter (Stanford CS grads can’t get jobs)
Experience doesn’t matter (20-year veterans get outpaced by AI-native juniors)
Age doesn’t matter (65-year-olds who code with Claude outperform 25-year-olds who don’t)
Here is Adam’s example:
Posted a job for 3 AI developer roles at $25/hour (not high-paying)
2,000 people applied
They had a funnel to filter down to 3 hires
The 3 they hired are “insanely impressive with how they use AI—really creative”
The brutal reality: If the TOP 0.15% (3 out of 2,000) are getting $25/hour jobs, what happens to the other 99.85%? And what about everyone who ISN’T even curious enough to apply?
How to cultivate curiosity (Adam’s implicit framework)
Consume voraciously: Read articles, watch talks, follow cutting-edge thinkers
Build hands-on: Don’t just read about AI—code with it, break it, push its limits
Stay uncomfortable: If you’re comfortable, you’re falling behind
Test boundaries: Adam compares different AI tools to see where they script answers vs. go deep
Ask “why” relentlessly: Don’t accept surface explanations
The age-agnostic opportunity:
Adam’s framework destroys the “I’m too old to learn this” excuse. He never said young people have an advantage.
Curiosity is a mindset, not a birthdate.
Examples:
50-year-old who learns to code agents with Claude for 5 years → Thrives more than a…
25-year-old Harvard grad who has been using ChatGPT for homework for 5 years
Adam’s portfolio (Anthropic, SpaceX, late-stage AI) + his company (Chore) reflect the same belief: The winners in the AI era will be those who COMBINE AI capability with human creativity, judgment, and curiosity.
Action step: Audit your time for one week.
What percentage goes to tasks someone/something else could do?
If it’s more than 20%, you’re misallocating your scarcest resource.
Hire AI agents, or delegate—but stop doing $25/hour work when your value is $500/hour.
With technological advancements, you don’t have to order DVDs ( yes, I am that old) and attend many seminars just to get familiar with the process of real estate investing. You can now have an online mentor :)
